SPRING EDITION ENGINE ROOM 11 “At EPSA, our ability to mobilise a rapid deployment response to support customer emergencies is key to our service offering, especially in the resources sector of Western Australia, where time is challenged by distance and terrain,” says Regional Rental Manager Peter Murphy. “BHP contacted us for a rapid response quote to mobilise, supply, install and commission an 18 MVA temporary power station on-site including transformers and a fuel farm. We had a few days to submit the quote and were requested to undertake a site inspection to agree the methodology. We were awarded the job that day.” As Project Manager, Peter and his team in Western Australia had a week to mobilise to site. This included moving all the equipment from across Australia and assembling installation crew and personnel. After a rigorous induction process they commenced installation and were ready to commission the installation within eight days. “Facilitating such a swift deployment can only be achieved with the right team of people in support,” says Peter, “and there were many – in both our team and BHP’s – all whose focus and commitment to getting this job done smoothly and OUR RAPID RESPONSE MODEL DISTINGUISHES US AS LEADERS IN PROVIDING EMERGENCY POWER GENERATION. efficiently meant we could deliver.” “The electrical installation team of our partner Taranis Power, led by their Project Manager Chris Wright, was critical in putting together our successful bid, and we couldn’t have delivered without them. Regional Sales Representative Nick Allworth was also integral in managing the project on site.” The temporary power station will be in standby for two months using our Cat® CG 1500 generators and matched 415 – 11 kV transformers. It’s been a busy period for the Cat® Rental team in the west. They also had to mobilise a rapid temporary solution to a major power contractor who required emergency back-up power for a popular major tourist town in the state’s northern region. “Our clearly defined rapid response model distinguishes us as leaders in providing emergency power generation whether that’s during a weather event such as storms or floods, a critical power failure, or when a potential issue is identified,” adds Peter. “The vast network across Australia of EPSA branches and Cat® dealer partners ensures we have immediate access to pull together the right team of technicians, personnel, product and equipment as and when it’s needed.”
