02 ENGINE ROOM SPRING EDITION FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR SUPPORTING OUR CUSTOMERS FROM GREAT HEIGHTS Phil Canning, Managing Director Reliable power generation is of utmost importance to every customer and every consumer, whether it’s to power a major mine site, keep critical infrastructure running or to provide operational efficiencies. When reliable generation meets renewable power, we’re doing fantastic things. You’ll read a lot about reliable and renewable power in this edition, none more empowering than helping the citizens of Yap Island deliver a new diesel-run power station that combines wind and solar farms with more efficient diesel generation in an innovative renewable solution. Reliability is also something that we take great pride in; it is the way we work at EPSA. From the rapid deployment to a Pilbara mining site to our commitment to providing the best in standby and back-up power generation, it’s our unrivalled customer-first service approach that makes us a preferred supplier to so many customers across numerous segments and industries. We’re working on a huge variety of projects this year, from major international projects to servicing regional and remote communities in Australia and the Pacific Islands. Thank you to our team and our customers alike for your hard work, support and partnership so far. 2017 has been an exciting year and I look forward to reporting on more achievements and innovations, big and small. At EPSA, we’ll go to any length (or height) to support our customers – and that includes using a 450-tonne crane to bring (or swing) in an 80-kilogram Cat® air conditioning unit. Scott Proud from EPSA’s Townsville branch arranged the rental of this 4.9kW portable air conditioner to Wilmar Sugar’s Kalamia Mill located at Ayr in Far North Queensland to support OH&S requirements for the working area temperatures. A crane was the only way to load the unit into the mill. “Humidity is prevalent in Queensland’s tropical north and during the crushing season the mills operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week,” says Scott. “This unit goes a long way towards ensuring the right environment is maintained for worker health, safety and comfort, which in turn also supports efficiencies and output.”
