EPSA’s marine team is celebrating the return of the legendary Cat® 3406C to the Australian market. Initially introduced in 1992, the Cat 3406C quickly developed an outstanding reputation and a popular following in both the Australian and global commercial marine industries.
“Customers across the globe asked for this platform to return to the Caterpillar product portfolio and we are pleased to announce that the 3406C is now available for Australian marine customers for the first time in several years,” says EPSA’s Marine Business Manager, Martin Ditchburn.
“We are out on the road communicating its return to our customers and they are delighted to see it come back.”
One of the most successful marine engine platforms in its history, Caterpillar re-launched and resumed production of the Cat 3406C in late 2013.
An economical, dependable solution for commercial marine vessels, this mechanically governed propulsion engine is available in ratings of 272 bkW@ 1800 rpm and 298 bkW@1800 rpm.
Ideal for small offshore, inland waterways and commercial fishing applications, the 3406C is easy to install, operate and maintain. It also features many shared components from the original engine design, adds Martin.
“The engine performs at optimal levels even in the harshest Australian marine environments and will be offered with either keel-cooled or heat exchanger cooling systems. It is backed by the Cat dealer partner network, which means our customers can enjoy complete confidence in this outstanding product.”
"THE 3406C IS TRIED AND TESTED IN THE INDUSTRY WITH A PROVEN REPUTATION AND WE ALREADY HAVE ORDERS FOR SIX ENGINES, WITH MANY OTHER STRONG PROSPECTS. THIS HIGHLIGHTS WHAT A DESIRED PRODUCT THE 3406C ENGINE IS.
