The customer used a total of 5.5MW from two 1,500kVA units for a two-week rental period in conjunction with their own fleet, says EPSA Sales Representative, Kerri Walton. “The installation, testing and commissioning took one week, the upgrade three days and decommissioning a further two days. This installation supplied power to the Cooktown community without any blackout and the power station had a peak load of 3.5MW. Our equipment ran continuously with an average of 850kW per generator.” “Both EPSA and our customer run equipment using Intelligen controllers and can be configured to supply power as one,” she adds. “For this reason, and our strong relationship and ongoing technical support history, our customer chose EPSA to partner with them to support their network.”  POWERING SUPPORT IN COOKTOWN EPSA recently supplied a low emission Cat® 3516B generator to SA Power Networks based on South Australia’s Kangaroo Island. It is similar to existing generators but designed to fit into a 40-foot container so that the customer had the possibility of relocating the generator at a future date. The Cat 3516B generator had a remote-mounted radiator supplied by Air Rads and a ComAp controller. EPSA Services Project Manager, Suthan Bala says the challenge with this project was to design and install the Cat 3516B and all its auxiliary items within the confines of the 40-foot container.“This enables the client to have a ‘plug and play’ setup where they only had to connect the power cables, auxiliary power via a Marecha plug and the diesel fuel line from the main fuel tank onsite.” SA Power Networks operates a network that stretches across South Australia, comprising thousands of kilometres of powerline and hundreds of substations.  ACATONKANGAROOISLAND
