EPSA’s first sale of the C7.1 IOPU into Western Australia was to Costa Group – Australia’s largest grower, packer and marketer of premium quality fresh fruit and vegetables including mushrooms. “I was contacted by Costa Group’s Mushroom Exchange contract mechanic to provide a price and availability for an urgent replacement engine for their composting machine,” says EPSA’s Industrial Sales Representative, Steve Riley. “Nutrient-enriched compost is the essential food source for mushrooms and Costa ensure each of their farms around Australia has access to premium quality compost mix. They required an engine capable of producing around 150 kW with the same interface drive (flywheel and housing) as their old engine. I was able to determine that the Cat C7.1 168 kW was a suitable replacement, complemented with a basic control panel. “The turnaround time was going to be three weeks including delivery of the panel, build and shipping to Western Australia but the customer required a faster solution,” says Steve. “Fortunately, there was a demo C7.1 engine already in the state, along with a Kensho K45 Electronic control panel so I was able to propose this with a two-day turnaround. Our Western Australian workshop built up and tested the package. The result is the customer can now run their machine at its full capability with the extra power.” Costa Group harvests in excess of 15.3 million fresh mushrooms per week and supplies within 24 hours of harvest. They boast mushroom farms in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia. ✜
