The Background

Two of these multi-million dollar resources projects in Queensland have kept EPSA’s Scott Harris and Hastings Deering’s Rob Owen very busy. Cat® engines are used to drive natural gas compressors that move gas to market and manage gas well water. As Cat product support specialists in that state, Hastings Deering works closely with EPSA from proposal concepts right through to the delivery of the Cat power systems equipment.

“Our customers respect the longevity and durability of Cat products and the access to the Cat service network that we can offer with Hastings Deering,” says Scott.

“Together, our complete turnkey solution supports customers on these important long-term projects, from EPSA’s gas application expertise to Hastings Deering’s total preventative maintenance contracts. Whether the customer asks for fit-for-purpose power systems packages, onsite installation or full maintenance, our Caterpillar team can deliver.”

As Hasting Deering’s Commercial Engines Manager, Rob works with single-engine owners and corporates who run large Cat engine fleets.

“Two years ago, Hastings Deering recognised the need to change structure to maintain focus on each industry group. This restructure provided an opportunity to reshape our commercial engines business to align with customer demand,” Rob says.

“I work with EPSA to deliver cost-effective solutions, and provide consistent and reliable service across a vast territory. I also work with customers at an operational level to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership, and corporately to maintain relationships.”

Scott and Rob agree that their partnership is crucial to winning significant new business, especially in the resources industry.

"IN ORDER FOR US TO DELIVER A SEAMLESS SOLUTION TO OUR CUSTOMERS, WE MUST WORK AS ONE."

“Being in on the deal from the start enables product support to provide valuable insights to sales, particularly in relation to site conditions and customer touch points. EPSA has equipment installation and specification knowledge, while our service arm has the repair and maintenance knowledge.

“We meet regularly and actively collaborate on sound commercial solutions for customers and provide service offerings to accompany as many EPSA sales quotes as we can.” Adds Scott: “Put simply, we strive to be easy to do business with.”
