In 2016, Tasmania faced challenges in power supply - years of record low rainfall and rare weather events saw water storage levels drop well below the 30% safety margin to a low 13.6% and the Basslink cable failed during December 2015, cutting off the mainland power interconnector. To address these power challenges, we worked to provide a safe and reliable network. We built two temporary power stations to deliver up to 32 megawatts base load of diesel generated power.

As the country’s largest mining construction project, Roy Hill is home to the world-class, low-phosphorus Marra Mamba iron ore deposit, expected to sustain a mine life of more than 20 years. The mine also has the potential to produce 55 million tonnes a year and its first ore was mined at the end of April 2014, with exports expected to begin in 2015.
